In the Democratic primary, educator Pia Dandiya, 39, of Palm Beach Gardens, is a newcomer with strong support. Democratic fundraiser ActBlue helped push her campaign contributions over the $2 million mark. Six current and former members of Congress and eight state legislators have endorsed her.
Dandiya has a degree in government from Harvard and a master’s in education from Boston University. At 28, she founded and led Democracy Prep Endurance High School, a successful Harlem school for low-income students. She was a 2020-2021 White House Fellow for the White House Domestic Policy Council, served on Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s statewide education council and led public sector initiatives at Apple.
Dandiya’s experience better positions her for national issues in Congress. But she’s also the better choice because she has a more realistic grasp of what will happen if Amendment 3 passes. Dandiya is on the right side of this key issue.
