As a teacher, high school principal, and mom, I have dedicated my life to opening doors for young people and making sure every family has the opportunity to build a better future.
I continued that fight as a White House fellow delivering under both Democratic and Republican administrations. After my time as a White House Fellow, I led public sector work at Apple, focusing on modernizing our education systems, healthcare systems and more. I was born and raised in Palm Beach County to parents from India in pursuit of the American Dream. I am running for Congress to make that American Dream more within reach for others – to lower our costs and to stand up to the corruption in DC that has big corporations and billionaires calling the shots while Floridians pay the price.
A Teacher and School Principal
I started my career as a middle and high school teacher. At 28, I was founding principal of a high school, making me one of the youngest high school principals in the country. 86% of my students came from low-income families and under my leadership, 100% of my students earned admission to college. I understand what it takes to make our institutions work for every family – so children across this country can be set up for success.
From the Classroom to the White House
After my time as a high school principal, I was selected as a White House Fellow where I served at the Domestic Policy Council and Department of Education under both Democratic and Republican presidents. My time working in government strengthened my conviction that we can do so much more for families’ hard work to result in the American dream – with access to a good job, reliable childcare and high quality, affordable healthcare.
A Private Sector Leader
After leaving the government I knew there was more work to be done, but I wanted to come home and give back to the community that made me the person I am today. From helping set up Middle Schools with iPads so kids can learn math more easily, to helping public servants from social workers to police officers, working at Apple allowed me to give easy solutions to the communities I cared about. I want to bring that same solutions-oriented mindset to DC, to clean up the mess and get results for South Florida.
Why I’m running
I am running for Congress to fight for a future worthy of my students and my son. I’m also born of a deep belief that we need a new generation of leaders in Congress – who will roll up their sleeves, legislate for the future and get to work. In Congress, I will put the American people first by addressing the affordability crisis head-on. I am certain elected leadership shouldn’t be about headlines or political fights – it should be about you. I will be a proud voice for policies that put all Americans on a path to prosperity, including preparing Americans for jobs in the 21st Century amidst the rise of AI, advocating for universal pre-K, reinstating reproductive rights, fighting inflation and ensuring Americans’ hard earned dollars go further. As a principal, I learned that leadership means putting the people you serve first. I will bring that same standard to Washington and fight the corruption that puts politicians ahead of people in Florida.
I will also stand up for our country’s working families in this critical moment as politicians in Washington weaken programs that give millions of citizens a fighting chance, such as Social Security, Medicaid and support for our veterans.
